This is my second attempt at this cake, the first was delcious, but it looked horrid

I made this yesterday.

Thanks to my Mommy and her seemingly never ending supply of ancient cookware behind the cake (and they all still work, made the cake with them actually). I used a black and white candle instead of the white, for a couple of reasons: 1) The place where I was buying the supplies didn't sell white candles in packs and I wasn't about to go running about looking for a pack. 2) The only white candle ther was being sold for $5 and I am too cheap to buy a SINGLE white birthday candle at that price whene there's a pack of 12 black and white ones for $2

I had trouble getting the chocolate shavings on the sides... I also altered the recipie a little... I switched the buttermilk with regular milk(2% in my case) and the Kirschwasser (cherry liqueur) as I do not like buttermilk and I do not drink or allow alcohol in my house. As well, I did not mix cocoa with the whipped cream because another who was going to eat the cake doesn't like that much chocolate flavor.
